A penile implant patient who had an 8-month long erection loses his court battle citing no medical negligence on the part of the urologist who performed the procedure according to NBC News on June 18.
In December of 2017 a Delaware man, Daniel Metzgar, underwent a penile implant, which left him with a constant erection that lasted for eight months. Due to ridicule from family and friends, along with stares, comments and even threats from strangers, the 44-year-old truck driver became depressed, changing his wardrobe to loose fitting clothing to hide his on-going erection.
Adding injury to insult, according to testimony, the tubing from the penile implant then punctured Metzgar’s scrotum, blowing his body part up to the size of volleyball ultimately having the prosthetic penis enhancer removed in August of 2014. However, he didn’t report or document the problem when his privates were inflated.
Michael C. Heyden, attorney for the penile implant patient told reporters they were stunned over the courts decision. Daniel Metzgar underwent the procedure to correct years of erectile dysfunction that he said is a result of being a longtime diabetic.
Dr. Thomas J. Desperito who performed the failed procedure that allegedly caused Metzgar to have a constant erection was pleased in the verdict finding no medical negligence on his part.
